Cleaning & Care Instructions
Please note that ALL Stainless Steel instruments including McGown Ligator model 30000 and Plastic cones* are autoclavable.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR LIGHT CARRIER INSTRUMENTS
- The main thing to remember in the care of these instruments is the fiber bundle (or carrier) is made of glass sealed in a protective metal tube. DO NOT BEND THIS LIGHT CARRIER because each time a fiber is broken the amount of light is reduced.
- Thouroughly clean the instrument after each use using soap and water.
- Wipe the light input and output ends with SOFT gauze being careful not to scratch the fiber optic surfaces.
- The instrument may be sterilized by Ethylene Oxide gas or standard steam autoclave. Flash autoclavable at temperatures up to 270° F when time does not permit the preferred gentler Gas sterilization.
- The flexible cable is constructed entirely of high temperature components which will withstand normal 250° F autoclaving and flash at 270° F. The cause of most problems in autoclaving fiber cables is careless handling such as stacking other instruments on top during the cycle. Routine flash autoclaving is acceptable with this instrument.
* - All Delrin plastic cones et al 30003, 60100, etc.
